Handmade Jewelry by Simone Walsh

An evolving range of beautiful contemporary handmade jewelry, much of which is inspired by nature, along with cultural influences from various places and traditions. My jewelry is crafted using a variety of metalworking techniques, including sawpiercing, etching, repousse, casting, patination and more. Materials used include sterling silver, gold, gemstones, vintage beads, silk and anything else which takes my fancy. These days I rarely aim for perfection in my jewelry, instead preferring for people to be able to see at least a little bit evidence of my having worked on it - with the hope that this will be something they treasure. I've been handcrafting a diverse array of jewelry and other art objects for over 15 years. I have studied my craft full time and have a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a Jewellery & Metal major. I create my work from my home studio in Sydney, Australia.

Butterfly wing pendant on silk

This beautiful and delicate butterfly wing pendant has been intricately cut out by hand in sterling silver. It has a brushed but still shiny finish which provides a lovely, eye-catching texture and is suspended from a natural silk thread necklace.

These delicate rose post earrings have been handmade in sterling silver. Each earring features three layers of 'petals' – each created from an organic cup-like shape, one nested inside the other.

Poppy ring with gold centre

This ring has as its focus an organic-looking sterling silver poppy with an 18ct gold centre (or 18kt if you're in the US), which creates a beautiful gold-coloured glow inside the flower. The poppy sits on top of a hammer-beaten sterling silver band.

Three blossom earrings

One of my most popular items, these delicate sterling silver earrings feature pretty little blossoms – three dangling from each hook. The blossoms have been cut out by hand, so each one is unique.

Rose necklace

This necklace has a sterling silver rose pendant suspended from a delicate sterling silver chain. The rose has four layers of 'petals' – each created from a textured and organic-looking cup-like shape, one nested inside the other.

Men's bracelet

This handmade chain bracelet was designed with men in mind - although many women love it too. It's created using a heavier wire and clasp than my other handmade chains, but it still isn't overly chunky or heavy. Each link is made by hand and is individually shaped and hammered.

Crystal drops necklace

I love these beautiful clear quartz crystal briolettes as they sparkle enough to catch the eye while still being elegant and subtle. Three briolettes have each been suspended on sterling silver loops, which have been hammer-beaten before being oxidized and suspended from a delicate sterling silver chain.

Cameo pendant

To create my own interpretation of a traditional cameo, I've first etched sterling silver with this beautiful detailed damask-type pattern. Then I've cut out the profile of a woman's head by hand and the piece has been cut into a circle and domed.
